No. 20 – June 25th 2015
The event at the PFi Circuit in Brandon (GB) last weekend made the final rush for the European KF and KFJ titles even more thrilling. The English round made the gaps which divide the top drivers narrower: in the Finals of the season-opener in Portimao (Portugal) and in those which took place on the track in Lincolnshire, the top positions were scored by different drivers with very few of them who were able to achieve two good results in a row. Uncertainty is the key word in the provisional standings of this end of season, with lots of protagonists who can still aim at the final victory in the last round on schedule in Kristianstad (Sweden) in a month. Next week, on Motors TV, a special report from Brandon will analyze all the results and the standings of the Championship.
Hanley fends off Joyner’s attack in KF.
Two Brits lead the race to the KF title: Tom Joyner (Zanardi-TM-Vega) and Ben Hanley (Croc-TM-Vega) placed first and second alternatively in the first two rounds. Joyner won last Sunday’s Final but Hanley keeps the leadership, with a 13-point gap, thanks to a more consistent performance in the heats in both the weekends. In Brandon, the Italian Felice Tiene (CRG-Parilla-Vega) was bumped off track and was not able to score top results. However, he keeps the third position with 31 points in the bag, even though the driver from San Giuseppe Vesuviano, near Naples, will need to keep at bay a large number of pursuers. Among them, the American Juan Correa (Energy-TM-Vega), who has 25 points now thanks to his third position in Brandon. The Dutch drivers Richard Verschoor (Exprit-Vortex) and Martijn Van Leeuwen (CRG-TM) share the fifth position with 23 points together with the Russian Alex Vartanyan (Tony Kart-Vortex). These are the favourites for the Final in the last appointment in Kristianstad, even though a special mention must be made of the Danish Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart-Vortex), eighth with 22 points: he too, still stands a chance of stepping onto the Championship’s podium.
Novalak leads the assault on Roosens in KFJ.
In Brandon he was not as lucky as he was in Portimao but, despite that, the Belgian Kenny Roosens (Kosmic-Parilla-Le Cont) keeps the leadership in KFJ with 44 points. However, the gap which divides him from the second position is now narrower: the English Clement Novalak (Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont) is second with 38 points thanks to the podium scored in England. The same can be said for the Indonesian Presley Martono (Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont), the excellent winner in Brandon, who follows in third position with 36 points. Same position and equal points for the Danish Christian Lundgaard (Tony Kart-Vortex). The second position at the PFi circuit has pushed the British Alex Quinn (CRG-Parilla) to the fifth position with 32 points, ahead of the Russian Ivan Shvetsov (Tony Kart-Vortex), sixth with 24 points. In the English round the Brazilian Caio Collet (Kosmic-Vortex) was not lucky: he remains at 20 points and drops back to the seventh position, ahead of the excellent Marta Garcia (FA-TM): the Spanish girl put in a terrific performance in Lincolnshire, fighting with the top drivers and deserving more than the sixth place scored in the Final. She is eighth with 18 points.
